Our roads are almost ready, but there are still several gravel and paved roads in the county and several side streets in Metropolis and Brookport that are not safe enough for school bus travel.
Due to hazardous road conditions, Massac Unit 1 Schools will be closed on Friday, January 30, 2026. The district will implement an E-Learning Day. Students should have received instructions regarding their E-Learning activities from their classroom teachers. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or building administrator.

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Paducah, KY indicates that winter weather is still expected to arrive sometime tonight (01/23/2026). It is anticipated that the winter weather will impact school operations next week. We must make daily decisions on school closures, but we are asking our parents to be prepared for an extended school closure next week as a precaution. Should closures occur, Massac Unit 1 plans to implement E-Learning Days. Students have been provided with the necessary resources to complete these activities. If schools are closed on Monday (01/26/2026), please contact your child's teacher with any questions regarding the E-Learning activities.
